Temperature-sensitive glass

One of the cool gifts that can make an impression or the useful tool for the interior design is a temperature-sensitive glass.

One can make some sort of a runner inside our outside. I can imaging that someone's footsteps would be transiently visible if walking barefoot on such a runner. Or use it as a stained-glass window that would change color depending on the illumination intensity. Or what about a simple trivet for a kettle of a sup plate?
